London’s largest children’s book festival is back on Barnes Green: 26-27 June
This year’s Festival has more than 60 events lined up, giving enquiring young minds the chance to meet their favourite authors and illustrators from the world of books.
Michael Morpurgo, Dame Jacqueline Wilson, Lauren Child, Julian Clary and Frank Cottrell-Boyce will all be there, with Number One bestselling author, Julia Donaldson opening the event.
The much-loved Helen Oxenbury, who has designed this year’s logo in homage to Judith Kerr, author of The Tiger Who Came To Tea and her own We’re Going On A Bear Hunt, will make a rare appearance.
Making appearances will be Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Medicine show with Prof Tom Solomon from BBC Breakfast, DNA Detectives with geneticist, Dr Amanda Hartley and, for the first time, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, performing a family friendly A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
As well as the weekend events, the Festival has a free six day schools programme, enabling 9,000 pupils to enjoy the world of literature.
Last year’s event had to go quickly online, but attracted more than 40,000 views from 46 countries.
