To make cycling more accessible in the borough, Richmond Council will be providing a dockless e-bikeshare scheme. The e-bikes will have a speed limit of 15mph and will enable users to travel longer distances and ride up Richmond Hill with ease. The motors are powered by battery, which will be recharged by the scheme operator, Freebike, every few days. An earlier e-bike trial showed that more than 6,000 trips a month were taken on the 200 bikes available. It sounds great, but does mean more bikes will be just dumped anywhere on our pavements…
