It looks like we might have already had the last Oxford v Cambridge boat race to pass by Barnes and Mortlake to Hammersmith Bridge. An alternative route – starting at Westminster and ending at Putney is being considered. This section of the river would pass by some of London’s most famous landmarks, including the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye and Tate Britain. The race would also be lengthened from 4.2 to five miles. The plans are in part due to the continued uncertainty about when boats will be allowed to pass under the Hammersmith Bridge.
