Playday – Orleans House Gallery
7 August
Playday is the national day for play in the UK. Orleans House Gallery will be partnering with Achieving for Children to host a variety of activities in the grounds of the Gallery. 11am- 3pm. Free. orleanshousegallery.org
Hampton Court Palace
The Magic Garden
The Magic Garden is a unique way to discover the Palace’s past. Find out about mythical beasts, storm the battlements and besiege the towers. Different areas represent myths, legends and stories linked to the Palace. Entry included in general admission. Wetlands Explorers – The Wetlands Centre
Challenges for the young, including pond dipping, wild painting and raft building. Pick up a trail map and set off into the wild and join the Swamp Survival Squad. A wild day out for all the family. From 20 July. wwt.org.uk
Kew Gardens
Children’s Garden
The new Children’s Garden – for those aged 2 to 12 – is based in a natural setting the size of 40 tennis courts. With more than 100 mature trees to play hide and seek behind, there are hidden treasures along the way to the 4m high canopy walk. There are areas such as the water, sun, air and earth gardens. Ham House – A Grand Picnic
3 & 4 August
You can always picnic at Ham House but this weekend they will also be hosting family games, music and theatre. Performances include Aesop’s Fables and A Tale of Robin Hood with Fireside folktales. See
