Amazingly, despite the horrendously long queues in the first lockdown, around 25% of people who have booked a time slot to take their rubbish to the dump at Townmead Road in Kew, just don’t bother to go. Before the booking system was put in place, the queues to the dump stretched down Mortlake Road to Chalkers Corner, blocking traffic. The system has been working well (except for a recent glitch when the system went down and half of the borough seemed to be trying to get in). With often a two week wait for a slot, a 25% no-show rate means hundreds of residents are missing out, even when it’s easy to cancel your booking, so the Council is urging locals to cancel if you can.
