Thanks to the generosity of the Tate, JMW Turner’s work are on show at his house in Twickenham for the first time. The theme of the exhibition is Turner and the Thames and it was opened by Sir David Attenborough, who has lived in the Richmond borough for 70 years and was born in Isleworth. The paintings include rare oil sketches depicting life on the Thames in the 19th century. Turner’s House, Sandycombe Lodge, was built in 1813 and is open to the public.
