William Boyd, Mishal Husain, Simon Hart, Matt Frei, Rachel Joyce, Alex Edmans and Joanne Harris are among the many top writers appearing at this year’s Barnes BookFest: 26 – 28 September
What better way to settle ourselves into autumn than with a good book and listening to some our best writers talk about their work? This year’s Barnes BookFest 2025 weekend is host to authors from numerous genres and interviewed by some our leading journalists.
Mishal Husain, journalist and broadcaster, will talk about her family memoir, Broken Threads, looking back at the life of grandparents against a background of empire, political upheaval and the 1947 partition of India and Pakistan.
William Boyd discusses how he created The Predicament, the thrilling sequel to Gabriel’s Moon – a tale of suspense, loyal, love and spies. Boyd has written 17 highly acclaimed novels.
Joanne Harris joins Patricia Hodge for a special film and in-conversation event for her new novel, Viane, the intriguing prequel to the multi-million Chocolat. The event includes a screening of the film version, starring Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp.
Talk of the Devil – the collected writings of Ian Fleming Charlie Higson, author of the Young Bond series and Ian Fleming expert, Simon Ward, introduce a new collection of articles and correspondence with Raymond Chandler and two early works of fiction.
Story of a Murder Author Hallie Rubenhold discusses Dr Crippen’s wives and mistresses – a man who obviously had enough presence to charm the ladies whilst being one of the most infamous murderers of the 20th century. She talks to leading criminal barrister, Wendy Joseph KC and gives a voice to the women who have never properly been heard.
