Enjoy the inaugural Barnes Bookfest with a programme of talks by some of our best-loved authors and film screenings at the Olympic
It can’t be said that Barnes lacks culture and now there is a new Bookfest for those who love to learn about authors and their work.
Sebastian Faulks, whose literary merit is matched by the huge number of books he has sold, will be talking about his latest novel, Snow Country, which tells the story of Lea, a girl born with nothing in the Austria in 1906 and Angon, the son of a bourgeois family.
Rukmini Iyer will be talking about her immensely successful Roasting Tin series of books, which have sold thousands and have inspired many to all-in-one-tin meals.
Bill Bryson, will be part of a film screening with Q&As at the Olympic, discussing A Walk In The Woods – his humorous account of a 2,200 mile hike across the Appalachian Trail in the US, filled with bears, moose, rattlesnakes and bobcats and, most alarming of all, people who love to discuss the relative merits of the external-frame backpack.
