The London Wetland Centre has launched a competition to find the best Urban Wetland Photographer of the Year
This competition is a chance for all nature, wildlife and photography lovers to show off their photographic skills and champion the wonder of blue spaces in an urban setting. It is the only photography competition to focus entirely on this.
The London Wetlands Centre provides ample opportunities for taking breath-taking animal and nature shots, with its 105 acres of nature reserve, which is home to remarkable and rare wildlife found nowhere else in London such as butterflies, dragonflies, moths, bees, bats, frogs, fish, beetles, fish, birds, plant life and fungi.
Categories in the competition are:
Wetland Landscape: capture the dramatic atmosphere of the urban wetland
Wildlife Behaviour: a memorable moment with the subject – it can be playful, serious, inquisitive, or unusual
Rare/Unique Wetland Moment: a moment unique to an urban wetland
Smartphone: Capture a meaningful image on your phone
International: An image for an urban wetland from anywhere in the world
There are Wetland Centres across the country which are run by a community of dedicated staff, volunteers and members, brought together by a love of wetlands and a drive to protect them.
The competition closes at 23:59 GMT on 31 August 2023. All entries should be submitted via email at: londoncompetition@wwt.org.uk. Winners will be announced in October.
