At the Orange Tree Theatre until 27 July.
London in the Blitz and identities get confused in this revival of Terrance Rattigan’s play.
On the eve of his wedding, Bobby – or the Earl of Harpenden to give him his full title – lets an American soldier, Joe, stay in his room. When an attractive girl turns up, Jo thinks it is Bobby’s ex, Mabel Crum and makes a pass. But it is Bobby’s fiancée, Lady Elizabeth, who also has a French lieutenant in hot pursuit. Things are getting complicated…
This production is the first major revival of Rattigan’s greatest hit, which played for more than 1000 performances when it opened in the West End in 1943.Orange Tree Theatre. Box office: 020 8940 3633. Tickets from £15. orangetreetheatre.co.uk
