Sir Richard Attenborough and the Royal Parks charity are urging people to take home their litter to help protect wildlife. Litter kills around five deer every year in Richmond Park. Across all the parks this year have been incidents such as a plastic bag wrapped around a stag’s mouth, a hedgehog entangled in a party balloon and a cormorant with a plastic beer-pack ring around its neck. Overflowing bins have been a regular sight in Richmond Park, with people leaving PPE, picnic waste and bottles around the bins rather than taking home the rubbish. It’s not that difficult – if you see a full bin, find another one, or take your rubbish home!
