Circling round trying to find a place to park? New high tech digital sensors are being brought to Richmond in a one-year trial, which will help enable residents to find the nearest available parking spaces. As part of the trial, 151 parking sensors will be installed across the borough. The sensors gather data and can identify if a space is empty. The information is then sent to the RingGo app, so drivers can head to that spot (hoping, of course, that no one has pinched it in the time it’s taken you to get there). It’s hoped the initiative will help reduce traffic in areas that have no spaces free and will help to improve air quality by cutting unnecessary journeys.
