Alice in Wonderland: Let your children journey down the rabbit hole and enter a fantastical world inhabited by curiouser and curiouser characters. Meet Alice, the Cheshire Cat, the Md Hatter and, of course, the old meanie, the Queen of Hearts. Wetlands Centre: 3 – 31 Aug
Junior Bat Walks: The London Wetlands Centre becomes a magical place after dark. It is one of the best places for bats, feeding over the lakes and pond. Walk around the centre, using special bat detectors to hear the hunting calls and end up around a campfire, sharing stories and toasting marshmallows. Thursdays only, 8-10pm. Hampton Court Palace: 2 – 6 Aug
Henry VIII’s Joust: Feel the thrill of a real Tudor joust in the celebrated home of Henry VIII. Henry was a famous jouster himself – you may even catch a glimpse of him participating in the event. OK, it’s really an actor, but you’ll still enjoy the excitement! There will be pomp, ceremony and splendour in the grounds of the palace. There will also be spectacular falconry displace, showing the hunting techniques popular at the time of the Tudors. Included in Palace admission. The Wind in the Willows: The Quantum Theatre brings children all the fun of watching The Wind in the Willows, whilst sitting on the beautiful lawns of the National Trust’s Ham House. Join Mole, Ratty and Badger on their adventures in this heart-warming tale of friendship, mishap and fun in this adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s family favourite. 6.30-9pm.
