Have you noticed the banners on Putney and Wimbledon Commons, asking dog owners to be more aware of their responsibilities? The banners remind people to pick up after their dogs and dispose of poo bags (in bins not bushes, obviously); keep their dogs under control; and respect the limit of no more than four dogs in any one group of walkers. While most dog walkers are responsible and aware of their dog in the local environment, if it encourages those not so accommodating, then the banners will be worthwhile. But the chances are, if they knowingly leave doggy-do on paths already, a banner isn’t likely to make them change their ways…
