Putney High St: highest congestion in world
When you think about city traffic jams, you might think Mumbai, Tokyo or Manila. But no. Putney High Street rates top spot in a recent study of traffic in over 1,000 cities across the world. A report by research company INRIX found that motorists trying to make their way down the street spend more time in traffic than anywhere else. Peak disaster time is 5pm. Putney MP Fleur Anderson says: It’s a shocking finding that the A219 – which includes Putney High St and Putney Hill – is top of the global league table for congestion. The closure of Hammersmith Bridge is undoubtedly a major factor and this must be a wake-up call for Government.’ As there are no updates on plans for Hammersmith Bridge, it looks like the ‘wake-up call’ may be some time yet…
