Richmond Council has reinforced its support for the quick delivery of a temporary pedestrian and cycle bridge, following the complete closure of Hammersmith Bridge in mid-August. The bridge, which closed to traffic in April 2019, but remained open to pedestrians, was completely closed when engineers found cracks had widened since last checked. Richmond Council, along with TfL, are in talks with Hammersmith & Fulham Council, which owns the bridge, to get a new temporary structure built for locals as soon as possible.
