Happily for lovers of literature, Barnes Literary Society events are continuing as normal (well, at the time of writing) – but with socially distanced meetings at St Mary’s Church on Church Rd. On 17 November, Toby Faber, grandson of the publishing house founder, Geoffrey Faber, will be talking about his latest book, Faber & Faber – The Untold Story. Ninety years after it began, the company remains independent, and has been home to such illustrious authors as Philip Larkin, James Joyce and Sylvia Plath as well as more recent authors, including Peter Carey, Kazuo Ishiguro and Milan Kundera.
