Eel Pie Island has a long history of musical links to bands and musicians such as the Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart and Eric Clapton, but it is, of course, also intrinsically linked to the river and its boatyards. The Eel Pie Museum has just been awarded a £4,400 grant from Richmond Council’s Civic Pride Fund, enabling it to add audio-visual material, bringing to life the history of the island’s boatyards. eelpiemuseum.co.uk
