Following the success of the National Nest Box Week, Richmond Council is challenging residents and local businesses to also do their bit for local wildlife by putting up similar bird boxes in their gardens or on their properties – especially in this cold weather. The extra boxes will enhance biodiversity and conservation of our breeding birds in the area. As front gardens are paved over for car parking, trees cut down and old buildings demolished, the natural habitats for nesting birds are disappearing, so bird boxes can help to provide a place to nest in urban environments.
